We decided on the font 'Nightmare' as we thought it was the scariest and hadthat horror theme to it as well as being clear to read unlike some of the others. we thought the font would blend in nicely with the theme and story line to our trailer. The second thing the group needed to decide on was the title of our film. there were many ideas that we started off with with a number of up to 12. we narrowed it down everytime we edited our film trailer because it was coming to light that some of the titles we had came up with didn't fit at all, we came down to these:
1) The Baby
2) The Infant
3) The Last Drive
we then chose our favourite font that we wanted to use for all of our promo's, we thought this would help us decide on the best title by the way they all look. we chose the font 'Nightmare' from http://www.dafont.com/ this is how they all came out:
The group decided on 'The Last Drive' we thought that this fitted in very well with our horror trailer as its not giving too much away about the film. and it not only covering one aspect of the film. we next needed to decide of a caption for our film poster that was come across scary but not amature, we came up with these ideas:
1) Insanity is infectious
2) Death Lives here
3) It's our turn to adapt
Once again what we did is we typed it into the font website to see how they all looked. we have kept with the same font because the group think if we keep familarity to the project then when the audience see a font like this then they automatically think of the this film. we wanted to keep all the promos linked and we thought that by keeping the font the same was the best way to acheieve this. this is how the captions came out after we had typed it in and made them smaller:
The Group decided on 'Death Lives here' As we think it covers our film trailer well, it also adds that scary/ horror theme which we think matches the font very well. We came to a conclusion that the other captions were perhaps a bit too long or completed for our taregt audience and we dont want to give off the impression that the film might be hard to understand so we played it safe by keeping the caption clear and simple but it also reflects the quality of the trailer as well.
MAKING OF FILM POSTER
The majority of this film poster was created by Jessica Scrutton, however me and jade helped with the idea's of the poster, we thought we would all let our creative side take on to Poster and Magazine cover instead of making plans we just went along and decided what looked better where and added things that we thought we make it look alot more scarier, we didnt organize anything for the poster and magazine because we thought that if we just went with it then it would turn out better then it would of have if we had a plan in the first place. while Jessica was editing the Poster and cover me and jade were concentrating on the trailer as we were all better at different things and because Jessica does photography it was easier for her to put her skills into photoshop then it was for me and jade, but we all put ideas in to make it look the best we could.

The group decided that picture's of the Actors from the trailer would be to reveling, we wanted to keep the trailer a mistery, so Jess had used a picture that she took from her AS coursework for photography, We all decided to blur areas of the picture and turn it into black and white to add the horror theme, We also lightened some parts so the writing would be alot easier to read from the audiences perspective.

The Group thought that it would be mysterious to add the pram from our trailer into the poster but make it really small and blend it in so its hardly visible, it adds that ghost theme to it as well, the poster is made dark because we thought it would reflect the style of film. the fog in the background adds that gothic effect and i think the pram is hidden very well but strangly still visible when looked at carefully.

The group realised that throughout the trailer you never see the killers face, so Jess cleverly created a sillouete of man using paint the edited on the film poster to create the mystery of who the person in the poster is. Jess came up with this idea because she wanted to add mystery to the poster by questioning who is the person running away, either the killer or the victem.
We kept comparing our poster to professional posters and in all posters there is always small print. this is a legal requirment and by keeping the lettering small and out of the way, it doesnt distract the audience from looking at the main image, also by the colours of the writing blending in but not covering up doesnt appear visible but is still found to be there. by adding it at the bottom we were following what other film companies have done.
The group decided on the caption being at the top of the poster as it blends well in with the tree's acting as a kind of fog which matches the bottom bit as well as that is blended in white. the caption gives a clue towards the film without giving too much away and by placing the caption at the top doesnt act as a title because of the size of the font.
