After our filming sessions, we uploaded all of our material onto the macs we then realised we would have to reshoot some shots as they were quite right and the aim of our project was to try and get everything we could spot on. so we then did a table of reshoots we did and when we did them so we could keep a record. This showed great organizational skills as the plan helped us get out there to film again and not wasting any time to get it all done. we wrote everything that needed to be changed to remind us on the day, the shots werent wrong, however we thought that by reshooting we could capture the shots better to perfect them.
1)(see tables) the shot where the car was being filmed coming from round the corner we realised that the camera hadnt focused properly when we uploaded to the computer, so what the group did is we went back out on the 10th november to caputure the shot again, the solution to this problem was to wait a bit longer for the camera to focus properly and reshoot he scene. the second attempt came out much better and worked perfectly when editing into our film trailer.
2) the second reshoot was being filmed from behind a set of bushes to capture the actors to look as if they were being watched. however when we uploaded the footage, the light from the car was too much and took the attention away from the actors as well as not being able to see the bushes very well. when we reshooted we toned down the lights from the car so it werent so bright. the shot came out very well as all attention was paid onto the main objects, also because we didnt realise we had took a tripod that had a piece missing so we couldnt use it because the camera was just falling off. the second time we shot we took a working tripod which made the shot alot more steady.
3) from our original designs we had a shot from the point of view of the killer who pops up in the back of the car, as we lost a member of our group it didnt leave enough people to be able to complete the shot as we needed 2 people in the front of the car one person filming and one person to be the killer so what we did is we waited for someone else to be avaliable to help us with this scene. it actually turned out better because we actually had a male to help us which looked better because of the fisque of him. we went back out on the 3rd november because this was the only time he was free and it turned out that shot was much better then expected!
4) The fourth reshoot was off the car lights fading on and off to reveal the actors dissapearing, the group thought this would be a very effective shot however was very difficult to capture because the lighting had to be just right. the first time we shooted this we thought we had got it but when we uploaded the footage we could actually see the actors running out of the shot which looked very amature. we did know we could cut it however the lighting was all wrong as well. so the next time we went out we made sure we got it all right and did it at least 6 times to pick the best one for our horror trailer.
5) we wanted a scene where the actor is dragged along the floor by the killer, as well as the acting being hard enough we couldn't get the angle right from the audiences point of view. the problem with the first shot we captured was that you could actually see the killer holding the actors legs, this looked terrible and very unprofessional when we uploaded the footage. the solution to this was to get the angle just right which we thought we had done until we uploaded the second lot of footage and found out that the scene we had planned was just too hard so we decided as a group to not include the scene at all.
6) Our last reshoot was of car hazards turning on and off, obviously car hazards are a sign of trouble so the group felt as if they must be included, this shot was one of the easiest shots to make, although when we did capture it the angle was perfect and the shot turned out very well until we noticed that the inside car light had been left on and the actor was sitting in the car not looking very scared or distressed so we thought it was such an easy shot we would redo it to get it just perfect. when we uploaded the second lot of filming the shot turned out much better and the group were pleased they noticed it before editing it in.
after all our reshoots, the editing was alot easier to do as we were not editing out inperfections. the shots turned out ten times better then the originals and the group were very pleased that we took the time to do this to make our film trailer top quality.
